DOJ OJP launched a formal Body Armor Safety Initiative in response to the Zeppetella incident. Output: the 2008 NIJ 0101.06 standard with mandatory field failure reporting, 10-year environmental conditioning, and Follow-up Inspection and Testing (FIT) program for BA agencies.
